What can i say? its already November 16, time flies when you're busy... haven't been updating my blog this semester coz i've been super busy.. but truthfully nothing much has been happening either...

This two weeks has been rather depressing for me honestly, did a whole lot of work and got back a grade C for it- group work btw.. thank you group oh so much.. nothing i can do anymore- trying not to care, but talking abt it still hurts, after all i did put all my effort into it, had the highest hopes for this assignment.

On a side note, last week I went to Nottingham for the Malaysian games. It was fun, bought sooooo much Malaysian food to eat for myself and for my housemates- nasi lemak, nasi kerabu, roti canai, mee goreng, murtabak, kuih melayu.... and many many more.

Well, what i can say? i've been superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr busy, i barely even have time to think sometimes.. waking up at 5 am just to get work done. But its to pursue my dream- remember i mentioned that i want to be fluent in SEVEN languages b4 i die.. well b4 tat it was all talk and no actual action.

BUT NOW, i'm actually learning japanese, its not as easy as i thought it was, but my background in chinese does help a little with kanji. Surviving it through- trying to improve on my BM, mandarin, cantonese and especially my english accent. I HAVE ACCEPTED the fact that i'll prob never be able to gain a british accent butttttttt i can at least try to sound as close to that as possible. people say i sound more like a singaporean though TT - MAJOR PHAILLLLLLLLLL

erm, for ppl asking of updates of my life, there's basically ntg to say- this is all i do mainly- STUDY JAP, my business degree, STUDY JAP, exercise/ movies, STUDY JAP and other languages, sleep & transport (u'll be surprised i spend more time on the bus compared to studying my actual degree- but then catch a nap everytime i'm on one :p), STUDY JAP, work, STUDY JAP, church/ ifocus (cellgroup), STUDY JAP, once in awhile treat myself to an oriental party.

So ya, if you noticed- jap 50% of my time- IT IS NOT EASY TO LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE! but i am persistent, i watched limitless the other day, really entertaining movie, gosh i wish i had thattttttttt Yahhhhhhh, i would be so happy, to be able to use 100 percent of your brain??! side note: bradley cooper ish so hot hehe

so yeah, erm something to entertain you- IT WAS SO COLD ON WED (4 degrees only) TT so i guess my brain was abit gone... taken away by the wind.. it happens

Well, if you guys noticed, I haven't been updating in a while.. well simply because my fulltime work got too taxing anddddd i went back to MALAYSIA!!! Oooh and i also went around the united kingdom and france abit before going back buttt that's not really important.

Well, where was I? hmmm just a quick recap of last semester- IT SUCKED! to be honest, I felt lonely, depressed, blah blah blah- all the negative feelings, although you probably couldn't see it on my blog as I like to hide it with a fake smile, there you go... erm so I wasn't really looking forward to come back here, partly because I had a really awesome time in Malaysia during my summer hols, it really made this year NOT SO SUCKY... but life doesn't always give you strawberries sometimes it throws some papayas right in your face.. so I dwelt with it and came back..

I moved out of my university accommodation, its much further which is why i got a bicycle, but my room is SOOOOOOO MUCH MORE BIGGER, now i have personal space, doesn't feel like a jail cell anymore. The best part are my housemates, love them to bits, its like I have three moms, I'm the youngest of the group and also the smallest in size (i'm only 5 feet tall marrr), so one of them even calls me baby TT but then they really spoil me, and I'm really happy here :D We laugh alot and do random stuff like just the other day, we took out hair bands and for me my shrek hair clips and started roleplaying to camwhore :p

I would say my social life this sem is much better lol possibly coz its september, where most normal people come in to study, i'm an exception (jan intake) :)

basic updates, coz i'm too lazy to type details..
- not planning to apply to exchange program to Australia anymore coz its friggin expensive (living cost, i checked it out), and I'm too lazy to store my stuff somewhere for 6 months
- planning my summer hols to visit frens in Australia booyah (i keep my promises ;D), hong kong and possibly japan which brings me to my third point
- started my job back at Lan Kwai Fong, at first was afraid that I would forget everything, but as I worked, it all came back, probably working more than weekends now it seems, as weekdays are pretty busy as well- but we'll see
- classes started, the whole reason i'm here, try to not procrastinate as much, as mostly group projects this year TT sigh, what bad luck! but ya, assignments still will be top of priority...
- most of my classes are morning classes, yawnnnnn, but so far my body clock has been waking up straight at 8am, so not a problem as far as being late, falling asleep in class is a separate problem :p
- and the most important update of all- remember how i said i gained 12 kg in my previous posts? well I LOST MOST OF IT, almost back to 40 kg di, just would like to congratulate myself :D I even wrote up a whole exercise and diet plan here so I would still be able to maintain my original body shape. Alot of people asked me HOW DID I DO IT?

The secret lies in-
DETERMINATION, FRIENDS MAKING FUN OF YOU (MOTIVATION)- calling me fatty, do you want to enter asia's biggest loser?, you swollen, not fat, just swollen....

and of coz exercise (MUAY THAI- yeah i went for thai kickboxing so don't mess with me and of coz some dodgeball)

Basically I started my fulltime job this week.. and well what can i say

I SURVIVED IT!!!!!!!!!!

just proud to say that....

ooh and i'm officially 19 years old already.. would like to congratulate myself on not celebrating it at all :)

i'm naturally a person who loves her birthdays usually, announcing to the whole wide world.. yes i admit i have a thick skin.. but i've also had my share of disappointing birthdays... last year my 18th birthday was really amazing though thanks to a certain dodgeball competition on the same date...

so one thing i learned frm my 16 and 17 one is DON'T HOLD ANY EXPECTATIONS.. and i'm kind of glad i didn't... as another reason was i just started working fulltime on my birthday.. and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRING... my feet still aches just thinking about it...

To be honest.. throughout this week, i thought of quitting many times.. just dragging myself out of bed and dragging myself back home seem to be a difficult task.. sigh....
i question myself, why am i going through so much pain? is it worth it? at first i started only for two reasons- MONEY for my future holiday trips and to lose weight... I DID NOT LOSE WEIGHT.. and money is confidential knowledge :)

BUT my pride is much more than whatever 'suffering' i'm going through right now.. RACHEL TAN YUE SEIN IS NOT A QUITTER!!! she can do whatever she sets her mind to... i refuse to give up halfway.... i'm going to go through it all the way...

I guess coming to the united kingdom, all this experiences have made me even tougher, even more appreciative of what i have.

ok...i've been super busy lately actually... so updates since last week. (sorry didn't take much pictures.. as erm i'm too lazy to)

WARNING: gonna be a super long post filled with lots of words... you have been warned ^^

1) i had a sushi party again (won't bother to elaborate except that we had two rounds lol)

2) i went for a picnic again. the church had a special service that day at the town hall at 11am, and we went for a picnic after that :) anyway it was really windy that day and sunny the next..
the picture below is the only one with me inside.. yeap the girl in d jeans jacket eating potato crisps (mom don't kill me TT). Actually someone did take a picture of me lying down, sleeping.. but she didn't post it up so too bad for u.. ur loss.. anyway i hav too many 'sleeping photos of me' frm college hehe, i never said i was a gud student ;p so if u want one, just go look at fb..

3) I went to the best chinese buffet in town. That same day- Sunday after the picnic... i went for a buffet with my group to kind of celebrate that we finished our group presentation, and congratulate ourselves on a job well done (i hope)... anyway the buffet was AWESOME... OXY and its not near summertown, i got it wrong.. lol, i'm still not sure where it is.. waiting for my frens to get a car so i can go there again as u can't take a bus directly there LOL...
There were teriyaki stuff, sushi, chinese food, bbq meat.. butttttt sadly i'm on a diet so i didn't eat tat much.. STILL AWESOME!!!

4) I WENT TO YORK to visit my sister... actually the stay in york was not as exciting as the journey there LOL.... i'm gonna be truthful (mom and dad don't freak out, I promise not to be so cheap again.. hahah)
ok, most people who know me well, know i'm one of d the most friggin kiam siap and jimat cermat kind of person... so yeah obviously i wanted the cheapest tickets there which was like only 90 pence... equivalent to 90 cents in malaysia.. COME ON.. but the catch is, its complicated..

now where do i start... ? hmm well, since this was THE FIRST TIME i was travelling arnd.. i was kinda paranoid.. so i admit i carried a knife arnd.. a fruit knife.. which i lost on the way back haha.. and i also had a big luggage bag to lug arnd as i was bringing back the rice cooker and weighing machine... (which i kind of regret... to tell later)
So.. my bus is at 3 plus in the morning.. ya.. and my free bus does not run after 12.. so i decided to walk into the city. As it was a sunday night, there's nobody around, like a ghost town... and since the city is quite far, maybe about 40 minutes walk... i left at 1.30 am to be on the same side (mom and dad DON'T KILL ME.. i'm sorry)... now i'm A BRAVE GIRL... but i'm oso a very paranoid one.. so i decided to remain in contact with a fren at the same time u noe, just in case anything happens... i hav a knife and i hav a fren... my mom was on9 but i didn't want to worry her..... d prob was EVERYONE IN MALAYSIA WAS STILL ASLEEP AND EVERYONE IN UK WAS SLEEPING... so that only left me with AUSTRALIA!!! i watsapp two of my australian friends- THANK GOD FOR THEM...

anyway i reached d busstop and took d bus to london, reaching earlier than expected 4.40 am, it was FREEZING COLD.. and i had to find the tube station, took me a while to walk here walk there, surprisingly there were people on the streets already.. anyway i found my way there, figured out how to use the tube. By this time one of my frens fell asleep and i only had the other fren left to teman me. So after i reached king cross station, i had to find st pancras station, which wasn't that hard... then i had to wait for 3 hours as my reservation was only abt 8 am plus. After i got on the train, halfway have to get down and change to another bus which at last BROUGHT ME UP TO YORK.... i reached at 12 pm plus...

YOU KNOW WHATS THE WORST PART... my sister made me walk back frm the city to her house.. 40 minutes walk ah.. after all that travel... but she did cook me nice meals and all expenses paid by her.. so she's still AWESOME.. and also my fren who accompanied me all the way, YOU ARE AWESOME TOO!!!

OK, basically what i did at my sis place was SLEEP, EAT, go to her fren's house, sleep again, do assignment, eat.. and then go back home.. hahahah

On a side note, i don't know what my sister put in her food weh, when i was at her place, i shit alot, morning once, afternoon again, night one more time.. i stayed there for 3 days, and i just kept on shitting..... interesting.....

ooh but we did drop by a nice place, her boss belanja us, lovely scones- first time i eat really nice scones, the previous times i ate, all not fresh wan.. lol

Ooh, and on the trip back, hehe i was lucky to meet a REALLY REALLY NICE BUS DRIVER... actually coz i was cheap supposed to b another almost 12 hour journey back.. but he didn't feel safe to let me wait in london so long, so he let me hop on his bus which was much earlier and i reached back like 2-3 hours earlier than i was supposed to.. YOU ARE AWESOME TOO!!!!

5) i finished my last assignment :))))) thus my semester is officially over and that means i am FREE.... AND THAT ALSO MEANS.. i'm actually gonna be even more busier as i'm starting my fulltime job next week.. crazy hours- mon to thurs is 11 am to 11pm, fri and sat is 11am to 3am.
Frankly i don't noe if i can do it, so my boss said we'll try me for one week.. GAMBATTE RACHEL, u're a tough kid!

6) i made a cake for the first time.. picture below (sorry lar it looks like a sandbox, and not nice presentation, but i promise u it tastes gud) recipe given by an italian k, don't play plaay...
btw its a tiramisu cake and reason it looks like that, coz accidentally spilled too much cocoa powder on top.. for those who wants to try... NO PROBLEM.. i will def make it for u :)

AND BEFORE I END... let me tell you a little story.. a really sad one :(
There was once a girl. She was 5 feet tall, 40 kg.. short but still slim.. THEN, she went to the united kingdom... She remained 5 feet tall, but she gained 10 kg and gained 6 inches around her tummy TT
and now she is 50 kg.... and with a stomach of 30 inch. COME ON!!! do you know now i look more like a kid than ever??! my boobs is only abt 31 inch u noe, at least last time i still can sort of pass for a woman with a figure, now i really LOOK LIKE A KID.. completely straight in front.... yaya laugh all you want...

one of my frens was SO SHOCKED when he heard that, he took 10 minutes to reply me back and then said rachel, are you trying to join the biggest loser in asia? -.-

hmmmpph, nvm i'm positive I AM GONNA LOSE ALL THIS WEIGHT when i start my full time job- another motivation to keep on going.. and I PLAN TO start muay thai next september.. i'm confident i'll be able to lose it in malaysia, but i don't want to get fat here again... SO I'M GONNA LEARN MUAY THAI- to lose weight and to learn to defend myself, my fist is gonna be lethal, i will no longer need a fruit knife to protect me (plus i lost it TT) muahahahahahahahha

MAYDAY

if i just had one word to describe the night before mayday, it would be

INSANE

truthfully i wasn't really planning on celebrating it, but 2 friends of mine called me out to stay up till morning and then check out the parade... so i said ok, after work coz it was a saturday night... and antisocial ppl like me work on weekends.. lol

ANYWAY, i went to work like usual...

that day was kind of busy coz this lady had a birthday party for 40-50 ppl, and anyway 4 youngsters walked in (if i'm not wrong, it was two guys and two gurls), they ordered food and went to the garden to eat. So we were all busy serving the other customers, then one of the customers came up to me and told me that the 4 youngsters had jumped over the wall and ran off -.-

obviously, i immediately told my boss who told my male colleague to run after them, he didn't know what they looked like, so i followed along and we chased after them (quite blindly as we didn't know where exactly to go), a good gentlemen pointed us in the correct direction but we still lost them. ANYWAYYYYY, we have a cctv at the back and we already reported this to the police, so JUSTICE SHALL BE SERVED, AND BLOOD WILL BE SHED!

the most ridiculous part was it was only 30 pounds -.- pathetic kids... i mean if you're planning to get a free meal, EAT MORE!!! but then they wouldn't be able to jump over the wall, so point taken...

by that time i was quite tired already and was looking forward to go hang out with my friends.. around like 11 pm, my friends came to pick me up after work- I end at 12 am... so i was just like cleaning up stuff... then at 11.30 pm, people just STARTED POURING IN FROM ALL DIRECTIONS, the whole place was just FILLED WITH PEOPLE, one after another.... we were running out of cups to serve them (i work in a chinese restaurant/ PUB- hence alcohol) so my job was just to gather all the empty cups and wash/wipe, gather and wash/wipe, gather and wash/wipe...

i wanted to go back sooo badly TT but my boss is pregnant and i couldn't just leave them just like them.. my kind heart lol, hahahahahah good joke... i didn't get a chance lar.. so many people, too noisy, my boss couldn't hear me, i tried to tell her so many times...

the worst part was people were getting drunk, they started screaming- making alot more noise (if that was possible, well yes it is..) and breaking the glasses with their clumsy drunk movements as they KNOCK INTO EACH OTHER 0.0

so who clears up? DUH... us, rushing here and there with newspaper, sweeping and picking up broken shards of glasses, making sure the same idiots who broke them don't hurt themselves stepping on them or something.... that sums up my whole night.....

i had to tell my friends to go off without me TT

i was so tired, i couldn't even finish my takeaway that night... RARE, FOR THE INFAMOUS RACHEL TAN YUE SEIN.. WHO EATS MORE THAN HER SIZE...

i just collapsed on my bed the minute i reached home (left at 3 am), my poor boss and the full time workers only finished at 5-6 am...

In summary,
1) I had a very tiring night, my legs felt like it was gonna break into two, well i have two legs so break into four
2) I get more pay, more hours mah.. lol (must always THINK POSITIVE!!)
3) I didn't celebrate mayday this year... anyway i didn't plan to.. hahhaha the only thing i thought of doing was jump off the bridge which is btw a tradition in oxford on mayday but coz the river below is so shallow, you'll probably injured urself (last year 50 ppl injured themselves, hahaha PADAN MUKA)

ooh and before i end- i don't care abt prince william and kate middleton's wedding.. so i missed that too, was enjoying my sleep that morning all the way until 2 pm coz that's just how i roll :)

Sushi party

We had a sushi party on wednesday night :D
Chiara and her japanese friends taught us to make sushi.

Well first, you need the ingredients:

cucumbers

prawns

cooked tuna

raw tuna and raw salmon

crabmeat and smoked salmon

egg

and the most important ingredient of all: RICE
(obviously one pot isn't enough) ;p
so we had one more container

Next, you start making the sushi:

we had a proper japanese sushi party with wasabi, green tea and some of us EVEN used chopsticks... well not me.. i'm too lazyyyyyyyyyyy :p (i used my bare hands lol)

Its easter break nowwww... and I started on my new job yesterday.. the food is REALLY REALLY GOOD, i ate curry beef and mushroom yesterday. . :) I think I ate too much though, this morning had a bit of indigestion and vomited. :( guess I shouldn't be too greedy, now my stomach still feels a little bloated and I still have a headache....

ANYWAYYYY, the manager sent me back home last night by car, it feels a little weird though to sit in the passenger seat, I think I forgot what its like to sit in a car, so used to walking/ running around everywhere now... I think i forgot how to drive TT ya, i don't really use the bus except to my business campus which is super super super far away... I even walk to the city now and to work- LOSE WEIGHT...

AIM- go back to how i was in malaysia

Time is really passing so slow here. I'm always bored, lol... still trying to finish the korean serials, somehow something always distracts me...

Well, we had our second international dinner just now, and this time I watched what I ate... lol

come onnnnn, I just lost some of that inches off my tummy, I'm not gonna jeopardize my weight for that one meal although it was pretty awesome ;p

I MADE SOMETHING FOR THE FIRST TIME, well technically i bought the dumplings and just boiled them, but come on.. it was raw before that, so technically I DID COOK IT :D

Well... its spring now, the sun is out... not so cold anymore, not so bored either....

Getting really really busy this couple of days, no time to even really sit down and come online except when i'm falling asleep in class, hence thank God for my blackberry. Sooo, basically I've met more people through a new church I'm attending, I actually feel like I'm settling in better now.

I FOUND MY ROOMMATES FOR MY NEXT TERM.. and i like them. So, ya looks like I'm officially resigning to the fact that i'm going to be here for a while. Will be signing the contract soon =D the house is actually further in compared to where I live now, so I'll be needing a bicycle soon. Getting the feeling more and more everyday that living out alone ain't easy, gosh, i feel so grown up now... i've already started planning for the internet and utility bills...

Its already middle of the semester, can't say I'm not glad its here, CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO BE OVER... i'm already planning what i'm going to do when I get back to Malaysia.. too bad i'll be stuck here for a month b4 i can actually go back.. and i'll be all alone -.- all my friends are going back in like may/ june sigh.... Second half of the term, i'll be even busier than usual if that's possible, i only have 4 assignments left.. after two weeks frm today, it'll be two....

ooh well..... starting to explore more of oxford's food now, i actually found some hidden chinese restaurants serving REALLY REALLY good food... too bad i'm poor and i can't afford it all the time TT but hey at least i know where i can treat myself now..... and ya, I HAVE GAINED WEIGHT.. hence no pictures of me taken recently... ya someone indirectly called me fat by looking at my old pictures and exclaimed how slim i 'used to be' but do not worry my fellow friends back home, i plan to lose all this excess weight before i come back home.... i shall punish myself by not eating any malaysian food if i don't when i come back.. ooh the horror.. Sorry been neglecting my blog again.. well basically I FELL SICK AGAIN.. and now i'm well again.. but yeah, this was my second time in less than 2 months to fall sick.... and both times happened through my period.. and in this horrid weather...

I would like to congratulate myself on achieving the task of watching HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER until season 6 =D AWESOME JOB... awesome barney *winks* so i will now start on big bang theory, actually i was planning on glee.. but glee is boring except when they sing.. I STILL HATE D MAIN CHARACTERS Finn AND RACHEL BERRY, i am ashamed she has d same name as me TT, i heart puck though... The only reason i'm not stopping well is coz i've started on it.. so don't feel like stopping.. lol plan to follow burn notice as well.. ANOTHER ONE OF MY FAV SERIALS.. ITS AWESOME... and i finished downloading all d seasons..

Probably finish the korean serial you're beautiful somewhere in april at last and watch boys over flowers AT LAST. Ooh and I started watching really really old movies here like the parent trap, freaky friday, model behaviour- the movie ME AND MY SISTER ALWAYS WATCHED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT ALWAYS MISSED THE ENDING.. i know SAD... somehow SOMEHOW something always came up... so yeah add to the list sleepless in Seattle, mickey blue eyes.. those shows..

And if you think OMG what is she doing wasting all her time watching so many stuff.. WELL FOR UR INFORMATION.. there is nothing much to do here :( lol well beside shopping... but well shopping... it juz spends all your money... and I HAVE NO MORE MONEY TT..

plus when i was sick, I started to think alot... ALOT... and when you're walking back in the dark from work alone.. you keep your mind occupied by thinking as well because you have nothing to do... but WHAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT.. that's for me to know... i'm just rambling away.. its probably coz i noe i have to get back to the kitchen before my carrots start burning.. Busy as a bee

Well... I've been really busy lately... and getting fatter and fatter lately.. yes I have gained THREE INCHES since i've been here which is only been a month. And when I tried to do a sit up today, I actually found it difficult.. so that's how much I've been out of shape TT

WHICH IS WHYYYYYYY.. i'm gonna start exercising and cutting down on whatever I've been eating lately, its only gonna be oats, vegetables, fruits and just enough meatttt... So yeah...

There have also been alot of events and dinners lately... which is NOT HELPINGGGG for my diet... like Thai night is coming up and Korean night.. yesss I know I'm not Thai OR korean.. but these events are just excuses so we asians can gather together and get to know each other.. DUHHHH... anyway alot of ppl say I look Thai/ korean/ japanese and of coz chinese.. but especially Thai somehow.. hmmmm

Moving on... just out of randomness and while arranging my earring collection.. I'm actually considering setting up a blog dedicated to my beautiful and gorgeous earrings.. haha Yeah.. its gonna be like a mini museum for me... =D so bye byeeeeeeeeee...

Its amazing how everything changes in a new place. I don't know whether being sick/ just being cooped up in my room has caused me to kinda think more. But ya, in a way yes... and I've been having weird dreams that don't make sense... one after the other.. but that's another story....

Strangely, being here, I've definitely come on9 less, having much better things to do- my job, studying, socializing and just basically walking alot.. when i miss my busses.. which happens quite frequently.. yeah... but Oxford is totally safe.. UNLIKE MALAYSIA... hahah, I love to drive anyway.. so I kind of miss that alot

So yeah, less addiction to fb, less in touch with quite alot of my old friends, frm church, high school and some frm college. Surprisingly the ones i'm most in touch with are some of my dodgeball friends.. lol Sometimes it kind of scares me, because to be honest the first part of my life b4 this whole UK phase, friends were everything to me, they meant alot and ya I'm wondering whether when I go back we'll even really hang out with each other. Its like the only thing still connecting me to their lives would be to stalk them on fb.. hahah like what I only did tonight, and it feels like so much has changed in such a short time, even for me.. Now thinking back this past few weeks, so much has happened, partly because there's a lot of stuff going on here.. its always busy busy busy, trying to find time for everything. Eventhough its only been what.. 3-4 weeks.. i feel like i've been here for like a year.. I mean I'm not complaining.. I totally love it here, I love my life now.. but at the same time, I haven't been quite able to let go of my old one. Maybe because I haven't found the kind of friends I had back at Malaysia yet, I haven't found that connection and that click. Maybe I'm just rushing to conclusions, I don't know.. I guess I'm confused.. I should stop thinking, eating those medications as well and just go to sleep.. hahah

Well, I fell sick. First time without my mom actually around to fuss on me.. lol. When you're sick, miserable and can't get out of the house coz its too cold, you get depressed and watch How I met your mother.. hahaha, Gosh I love Barney, I'm towards the end of Season 2 already, can't wait to see Barney and Robin as a couple, don't know why I don't really like Ted and Robin together...

I think I'm coming back with a fever, and tomorrow's valentines day which sucks.. but doesn't really matter because I'm single and I don't have a date.. hahah.. i've never ever celebrated valentines day before and I've well sadly never received anything on valentines day... I can live with that.. single rules? who am I kidding??

Anyway I mentioned I got a job right.. wellll I got my first paycheck on Friday.. AWESOMEEEE.. I got more than I expected not sure whether its due to bonus or tips from customers but don't really care.. hahah... Soooo I realize once you start working, alot of things changes, like on one hand I feel like Omg I need to saveeee, because its my hard earned money. And on the other, NOW I CAN SPEND... I CAN AFFORD IT... hoorayyyyyy... but I'm still like pretty tight with my money on daily living, my salary is solely on entertainment, shopping and other stuffffff... Due to my love for shopping, I don't really plan to save for traveling on my first semester, and don't worry mom, I'll definitely find space for my stuff.. hahah

However, I do plan to work full time during the holidays, my target being Norway although its freezing cold there, but they pay soooooo MUCH... accommodation fees there are cheap as well although food cost a bomb there (but i'll cook and survive).. MY ONLY PROBLEM IS I DON'T SPEAK NORWEGIAN TT... but I'll figure something out.. hehe

Okkkk, back to my job... working in the kitchen really makes you hungry... like eventhough I've just eaten.. but when I'm at the kitchen, or even just near the kitchen, smelling the food and looking at it... gosh it looks soooo delicious.. I feel soooo hungry suddenly, my stomach starts growling immediately... sigh

The worst part is now that I'm supposed to clean up the table after the customers leave and I bring back all this uneaten food and I'm supposed to throwww it away TT It seems so wasteful, especially the fried rice, there's like half of it still untouched and I threw away 5 pots of that last night. Seriously I really wouldn't mind packing it away and eating that for the rest of the week or something. Being here a lot of my principles have changed like sharing saliva and being so paranoid of guys touching me. Its more like I'm used to it now to not seem weird, it would be so hard to push away every guy who stands beside you and puts his hand around your shoulder or greet you with a cheek to cheek peck... And the funny thing is now I eat almost everything as long as it taste ok.. like aubergines. I hated them, purple and slimy. But last night I got them for takeaway and I was like.. OMG it would be a waste to throw them away and I'm starving after working in/ near the kitchen for 5 hours. So while walking in a dark lane where the lights are kind of dim and you can't really see anything, I used my hand and gobbled it all up before I reached home.. hahaha, ya I'm not hygienic anymore... That girl is goneee!!! But that doesn't mean I'll be like that in Malaysia, I guess there's still a line where parts of my life in certain places, I act differently.. so yeah...

On a side note, I was freaking out for a few days when after I shit, I saw it bright red like fresh blood, and I wasn't having my period. So I confided to my mom and she was like you might be having constipation, but there was no pain and well I was eating oats, fruits, vegetables and also celium husk.. So I was kind of panicking and stuff.. until I looked it up on the internet.. hahahah

I’ve been really busy lately so haven’t had the time to really update my blog.. hehe, my apologies. Anyway I realize my priorities have been different every year, last year was revolving around dodgeball, guys and friends XD, this year is more towards studies and my job. I’ve been here for about 3 weeks and I haven’t gotten attracted to a single guy. Surprising eh? Yeah I know… I totally miss Malaysian guys :/

Soo.. updates, I’ve been in all my classes, and basically I mentioned that I only have 3 days of classes right? Yeah, but you’re EXPECTED TO READ ALOTTTTTTTT- independent studying.. hip hip hooray -.- BUT I’ve been a good student as I always am at the beginning, super gung ho to do well (it never lasts though just like all my new year resolutions), I’ll try though.. I WILL TRYYYYYYY.. to make it last.. hahah. So I went to the library to borrow NINE BOOKS.. yeahhh and each book is super thick, look at the pictures.. and today I went to the library to borrow two more and I’m going to the library to borrow one more tomorrow because I missed out that book.. lol.. and I actually read some of them.. parts of them fine.. PAGES of some of them.. you get the idea.. its business, its boring…

My modules are Foundation of business, introduction to management and last but not least academic writing for business. I enjoy introduction to management most, I find it the most interesting and well I can relate more to it as its more practical I guess… I find Foundation of business complicating a little bit, its not boring, just I guess not my type so I don’t really have the interest to understand at the same time.. the business vocab and terms lar.. basically.. SIGH.. but I WILL STUDY AND MAKE SURE I UNDERSTAND :/ Anddd academic writing for business, this module is 3 hours STRAIGHT EARLY IN THE MORNING AT 9AM, a TUESDAY MORNING.. btw I have been late for two classes now including today, hehe (chatted with my mom for 3 hours last night frm 12 am to 3 am, because I wasn’t online for 2 days and she was soooooooooo WORRIED.. like all mothers are, so as a super good daughter, I skyped with her.. and I woke up at 12.45 pm this afternoon and I RAN TO CLASS COZ IT STARTS AT 1PM) so yeah, I didn’t have time to bathe or really change…. well who cares? Not attracted to anyone here -.- Ooh, I was late last week on wed- ANOTHER MORNING CLASS AT 10 AM at wheatley campus which is a 20 min bus ride from my place CRAZY RITE??! I had to run after the bus, last wed was the first time I sweat in UK.. before that it was like almost impossible, I sweat easily in Malaysia, all I have to do is sit in a sweater in my living room for 5 minutes and voila I sweat, but here it took me so long to achieve even a slight amount of sweat, well UNTIL LAST WED… yeah.. very thick layer of sweat… that’s how much I ran.. and it still left.. without me L.. and that was why I was late, not my fault.. the bus left WITHOUT ME.. how dare he??! Yeah, I’m just feeling really random here now… so back to my modules- the third one is SUPER BORINGGG 3 HOURS K… after 20 minutes we’re like, huh? Still got summore ah.. for the rest, time passes very fast.. but for THIS ONE.. it moves extra slow..

Ooh.. I GOT A JOBBBB.. at a chinese restaurant.. heheh AWESOME!!! I’m paid only 4.50 pounds an hour because I have no experience and I just started but as I gain more experience, my boss says it’ll increase =D you know what’s the best part? After work, I get to bring back a Tupperware of chinese food, it tastes really good and its not really oily, meals like that usually cost like 10 pounds.. so I’m happy and satisfied.. Chinese food twice a week, SWEET =D

I went shopping today.. hahah with some of my chinese new year ang pao from over the seas and oceans back at Malaysia. Wait.. I forgot to mention something.. hahah, two things people mention when I’m here- My English is good J (in your face, Wei Liam) and I look young. The latter happens in Malaysia A LOT, just that the difference is Malaysians are more rude, they’re more like YOU’RE SHORT… whereas the people here are more polite (same meaning butttt you look really young, then they slap you in the face not literally by saying.. you look like 12) ?????!!!!@#$%^&* which is back to saying YOU ARE SHORT, YOU ARE THE HEIGHT OF A 12 YEAR OLD… TT

But after today I accept it, I understand why they say that.. sighhhh, I went shopping at a department store. Before this, in London, my sister told me to shop in the children’s section as its supposed to be cheaper (less taxes or sumthing), that’s where I bought my nice black coat- H&M children section…

So yeah, I was shopping when I saw a really nice shirt dress with a belt (adult price was about 25 pounds), so I looked at the children’s section, and they had a similar one 12-16 years old is 18 pounds.. so I was like yeahhhh.. let me try this, so obviously I tried the 16 year old size one, (I’m 19 years old btw), and it was too big.. yeah.. so I was like FINEEE.. 15 YEAR OLD SIZE.. still too big.. so I just basically grabbed (too lazy to keep walking from the fitting room…) the 14, 13 and then I thought since the 11 years old and below is 15 pounds, I might as well try it, if it fits, save 3 more pounds.. and I tried the 11 years old size and IT FIT PERFECTLY TT which is bad.. and good.. LOL… so yeah.. I’m the size of an average 11 year old british girl.. HOORAYYYY…

I admit I'm really enjoying it here now. My only problem is I find that time really passes so fast here and I feel tired awfully fast. I used to be able to stay up till 3 am for a few weeks consecutively but HEREEEE... after one night staying up till so late, i just feel exhausted for the rest of the day. And i ALWAYS feel sooooo sleepy everytime I step inside my room, it feels so warm and cosy with the heater and the bed always looks so inviting.... zzzzzz

But the shopping here, GOSHHHH.. its awesome.. I need a job to shop more, haha... yeah... I went to bicester village shopping centre on saturday and how do I describe this? it was BEAUTIFUL... haha all the big big brands surrounding me.. french connection, burberry, ralph lauren, yves saint laurent and MANY MANY MANY MOREEEE... the best parttttt.. everything was at 50%- 70% discount... KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......
We went quite late at around 12 pm... and we were quite slow shoppers, spending about half an hour in each outlet so we only managed to drop by like 5 shops :( Anyway I didn't have much money on me but I spent a little bit of the angpao money I received from my uncles and aunties given to me before leaving to uk (hehe) on some clothes.. The t-shirts I got from French Connection only cost me 8 pounds each and I got a pair of gorgeous jeans for 16 pounds :D Yeahhh, I'm so turning into a shoppaholic (to my parents who are reading this- I was just kidding)

I went for an introduction course today (which is only for international students and only for first few weeks to help us settle down and get used to the british education system.. well you get the point), and yeah, from what I understood from the lecturer talking in front, I'm going to hate my course ... lol.. ya, maybe its too early to tell... buttt.. from what she was explaining about, I feel like I just don't have the interest for it.. sigh, its more about current affairs, economics stuff, complicated stuff about business which I have to research, read lots and lots and lots of books then write essays on it..... brrrrr... totally dreading it :/ but yeah I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.. sigh, not that I really have a choice now.. haha, but I'll be praying real hard that I'll be able to even understand what I'm supposed to be reading about, for now I'm still lost but then my lectures hasn't even started yet... lol, but from what I have seen, the teachers and lecturers here are lovely- meaning they sincerely want to help you and are very gungho in making sure you understand everything.. so yeah, thats good... MALAYSIAN government teachers could learn a thing or two about that, maybe I wouldn't spend all my time playing cho tai ti in class then. -.-

Adapting

Well, my mom's left and went back to Malaysia. Its not as crazy and hectic now, in fact I'm starting to really enjoy the freedom. The food isn't as expensive as I expected before and I'm starting to enjoy shopping for groceries. I guess its the way they package the food, makes it look extra delicious. One thing I like about Uk is everything is just so convenient here, the food... getting around... you can't just randomly go from one place to another back in Malaysia, you need a car. But here, you can just walk or take a bus, and their public transport is punctual.. hahah something we Malaysians definitely are not. XD

My body is used to the weather now, I don't feel as cold as before, I can even wear black stockings only at the bottom (before that I had to wear like 3 layers- stockings, tights and jeans) for vanity purposes, hehe. Erm.. not as lost as before as well, getting to know the place but still figuring out how to get out of Oxford like to London or where my sister is staying which is York.

I'm still looking for a good phone plan with preferably a blackberry, I saw one for 20 pounds.. unfortunately the deal expires at 31 jan 2010 and my bank account debit card will only reach me in feb :/ so yeah.. i'll be looking for another promotion. But i do have two temporary uk numbers at the moment, one belonging to my sister and the other orange (only reason getting it because they have this promotions called orange wednesday where you can get two cinema tickets for the price of one... AWESOME!!!!)

My head is still a little messy and jumbled up with a lot of stuff but its slowly clearing up, I just need more 'me' time.. which I'm getting alot now :D I got my timetable already.. heheh AWESOME TIMETABLE.. technically I only have 3 days of class- tuesday, wednesday and thursday... and both of these days- 2hours only because oxford brookes university believes in independent studyin.. so yeah.. I have to discipline myself.. Lets hope I can maintain that.. I tend to work very hard in my first few months every year.. then slack and procrastinate for the rest.. :/

So this means I start my classes officially NEXT TUESDAY.. yeap.. hopefully when I meet my classmates, I'll be able to erm 'click' with them. For the moment, I'm only really hanging out with the asians.. yeah, I find it difficult to talk to the ang mohs... my mind just goes 'blank', ya i noe.. like thats possible for me.. but now i found out that IT IS POSSIBLE...

I don't know why.. whether its the weather or what.. but I get sleepy easily and fast... like its only 8 pm and I feel dead tired already. Besides that, the people here sleep quite early as well and there's nothing to do here at night.. BORING.... i've started on how i met your mother and i'm finishing a hk serial- pillow case of mystery 2... ya... i'm quite antisocial.. i prefer to stay in my room and watch my shows instead of chatting with my house mates... and everything here.. well mostly everything CLOSES AT 5 PM... it gets dark then as well TT.. so yeah... i miss malaysia where we hav our late night trainings, hanging out at mamaks, even the clubs and pubs.. ya they have the clubs and pubs here but there's no one to go with yet technically....

So yeah, that's it.. I think I'm settling down quite nicely.. the longer I am here, the more i'm growing to like this place.. mainly coz its really nice to kind of have your own space now... where u're alone and yeah.. have my 'me' time.. hehe I like it. I'm now over the I miss my friends phase, partly because I have my internet now.. but then they don't come online anyway -.- no one to skype to, BLAHHHH.... but i'm making new friends here and we're enjoying the exploring bit together.. we might drop by bicester village shopping centre on sat.. where a lot of big brands with cheap prices are.. i like the sound of that.. ;p more SHOPPINGGGGG.. XD

Just got my internet connection AT LAST.. So here’s, just an update of what I’ve been up to during my orientation week… WARNING: it’s a very very very very long post…

So, I sat on Air asia for a 13 hour flight which was worse than I expected. Being short and small was certainly an advantage here as the leg room is horrible and the ang mohs surrounding me could be seen suffering through the entire flight. I managed to put up my leg though on my laptop bag- short legs… but after a while it got very stiff.. ya.. worse place to sleep at… Besides that, unfortunately for me, the person sitting next to me was a female.. yah so no leng chais to be seen… sigh BUTTTTTTT hehehe, on the way out of the flight, I SPOTTED a gud looking mixed looking chap from far and just waited for him to pass by, then I played the ‘oh, I’m too short and I need help getting my luggage bag’ card… which is true because those things are really placed too high, you would think that air asia would be more considerate to the Asians instead of the Westerners.. hmmph. Anyway ya, with ONE HAND… and a swift movement of his arm, he pulled my luggage bag down, and I returned his favor with a grateful smile. My sis said I should have just asked for his number or email, siao ah she… I’m a girl lar -.- it should be the other way round.

BUTTTTT when I reached Oxford Brookes on the next day.. Goshhhhh, when I just walked through the area towards my hostel, ALL AROUND ME WERE JUST GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE to feast my eyes on… LOL, the only problem I have is they are all 1) 6 foot tall guys and 2) mat sallehs… I don’t know why.. but I just don’t get attracted to tall westerners… I just prefer short Asian guys.. haha. In Malaysia, I only have to really look up at a few people like Wei Liam, Melvin or Navid when I talk, but HEREEEEE, I have to look up at almost EVERYONE… I feel like a small little kid, which is probably what I look like to them -.-

Then there’s the issue about the weather, ITS REALLY COLD. I found hong kong too cold for my liking already when it was only like 10 degrees that time or something, but here… its CRAZY, its negative TT

Thank God for my earmuffs and all the winter clothes I bought… But it wasn’t enough, so we went back to London on our second day in UK and basically went shopping on Oxford Street. What can I say? Its amazing, the shopping bags are sooooo big, no wonder people enjoy shopping more here.. hahahah, anyway I bought a ton of stuff including a new BATHING ROBE.. because my bathroom is too small and its shared between 6 people. So yeah, I’ll totally be walking around naked inside with a bathing robe. ;) Its so comfy and fluffy and nice and warm and it cost me 12 pounds, just don’t convert it and it’s a very nice price.

So back to erm… my little walk Oxford, me and my mom, we had to lug FOUR luggage bags (one being 25 kg, the other 20 kg and two 7 kg hand luggage). Please note that we are short ladies, one being at exactly 5 feet tall and the other slightly taller only. It was very tiring, plus the fact that we had NO IDEA WHERE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GO.. anyway this kind gentlemen- Muhammad from Iran which we stopped for directions decided that he would help us pull both our heaviest luggage bag right to our destination, God bless him. The people in UK are really awesome and friendly J, my sister says I’m just lucky, she says the people there are usually cold and hostile, I like to think its because of my cute and adorableness that they stop to help… syiok sendiri moment :D or maybe my sis just has a face problem… I like that thought more… HAHAHAHAH

But yeah, like the people I met at the church on Sunday were REALLY friendly, everyone was basically just exchanging their numbers with me, telling me that I can call them up anytime I feel lonely or just need someone to hang out with, which was really nice.

I’m quite happy with my accommodation, yeah.. its really small actually.. check out the pictures… but its cosy and warm for someone small like me.. I just need my mom to get out asap.. then it’ll be perfect. Two people’s a crowd -.-

But one thing anyone needs to know if they ever want to live in Oxford is just be ready to WALK A LOT.. seriously.. you basically just walk everywhere here.. mainly to save money but sometimes really its just more convenient to walk… either that get a bicycle but some places are uphill so it’ll just be easier to walk. The good thing- its beautiful here, the scenery, IF YOU APPRECIATE NATURE.. unfortunately I DON’T.. so yeah.. The bad thing- ITS CRAZY COLD OUT HERE.. my ears hurt like crazy, my lips are cracking, my eyes are watering constantly and I often get headaches partly coz of the jetlag but yeah you get the idea. I really should have gone to Australia.. I would have fit in with the whole beaches at Gold coast… I’m not a nature person.. I’m more of lets destroy the earth person… ya.. towards the sadistic and destructive side.

The funny thing is you would EXPECT that ALL THIS WALKING would make you lose weight. If I was in Malaysia, I would be sweating in less than 10 minutes, but here.. you don’t, the air is TOO DRY.. and somehow, you don’t lose weight.. YOU GAIN WEIGHT.. I’ve only been here for two days and I gained two inches around my tummy, the horror! I’m going to start doing crunches once my mom leaves and stops fattening me up.

Ooh yeah, I get my period in the weirdest of occasions.. like in the middle of my Super Junior concert and almost at Zoukout.. although that was more of a false alarm.. well I just had to get it on MY THIRD DAY IN UK.. and its cold, really cold which is bad, freezing up all the blood inside, making my contractions MUCH WORSE THAN NORMAL.. which just made me spend my ENTIRE MORNING ALL CURLED UP hugging that ugly girly hot water bottle my sis got me.. and yeah, my mom has nothing better to do than to take pictures of me in pain. So basically when I was in pain, I got my mom to write my will… The content are

1) When I’m burned, I’m to be burned in my bathrobe and piggy wiggy slippers because they are just to comfortable and not to forget with my bolster which has been with me since I was born, 18 years and counting…

2) My two teddy bears shall be placed in the house back at Malaysia as a memorial of me.

3) My funeral will be carried over a span of three day.

1^st day- Garage sale of all my items, the cheapest price possible

2^nd day- Auction of all my earrings, 155 of them so far.. possibly more when I die… and not to forget my 7 black dresses, the dresses will start at the price of RM 50 each.

3^rd day- Burning of my body and whatever that is to be burned with it. No speeches please, I ALWAYS HATED SPEECHES…. No matter how short it was, waste of time mostly.

All the money gathered in my funeral and whatever money in my bank account is to be donated to a charity organization which involves children, ( I love children) as I have none of my own. When I do, then it’s a different story…

And last but not least all my organs are to be donated away if anyone wants them… if not it can just be burned and thrown in the sea with the rest of my ashes.. Pollution ftw!

I realize that what I miss most of Malaysia isn’t the food or weather though.. its my friends, especially with the lack of internet this couple of days, I’ve been missing a lot of people, dodgeball people, my college mates, my high school friends and church people as well. Surprisingly the people I miss least are my family hahah, maybe because my mom is here, I’m, actually waiting for her to leave to have TOTAL FREEDOM! With my whole period thing and the depressing weather, I do get teary easily… but the people here are warm and friendly as long as you smile at them first, I’m gaining some friends fast as they’re equally as lonely and lost actually- for the international students.. especially the Asians as some of their English isn’t very good. This just encourages me to learn more languages, my aim has sort of increased now to 9, I know 3 now- English, Malay and Mandarin. Aim to learn within this 4 years is Spanish and Korean somehow. Then before 30- Japanese, Italian, german and lastly French.. Its ambitious yeah.. but then that’s the only dream I have left. My other one- to GET MARRIED BEFORE 22.. is looking pretty gloomy.. I give up, the guy I like does not like me.. heck ALL THE GUYS I LIKED DO NOT LIKE ME BACK.. it’s a curse.. I’ll just settle for celibacy or being a nun…. I’m just joking… I love guys too much, but for now.. I’ll just concentrate on my only dream left.

It finally hit me yesterday after replying Sheila on facebook. After typing this,

I don’t know why but suddenly tears started pouring down my cheeks.

Maybe I’m overreacting, after all I’m coming back for the holidays in July but I know somehow things will be different.

On one hand, I love change and on the other.. I fear it.

I guess the year I change most to my liking would be 2010, mostly due to dodgeball. And maybe that’s why it hurts so much to lose it. Here's a tribute to the dodgeballers who left their footprints in my life.

I had a small farewell gathering for my high school friends on sat night, thanks guys for making it, all of you.. well except wei jun who had food poisoning but i really appreciate it. We watched Easy A, AWESOME movie, actually this was my second time watching it.. hahaha, can't get enough of the BLUE DEVILS!!! its really funny, i highly recommend it =D

And they made me a T-shirt, :') there and then after the movie, and the best part was it is paid by the most kiamsiap person in the group- Lim Jih Shing 0.0
I'm too lazy to post pics of us as its already on facebook and we were mostly concentrating on other stuff.

Oh yeah, special thanks to Deetraa and Jillian for dropping by my house before the party. I heart you both, my high school friends were late -.- they came 2 HOURS late.. its seems i'm the only one who didn't get the memo that the party was postponed to 7 pm. LOL

Frustration

I guess I didn't realize how hard it would be to pack for uk. ARRRRGGHHH, feeling so frustrated at this moment. How am I supposed to fit EVERYTHING i want to bring into 2 check in luggage bags and a hand luggage at only 47 kg?

This whole week has been a mess. First, as an organized person, I did a very detailed checklist of EVERY SINGLE ITEM I plan to bring there, like even a detailed list of how that particular piece of clothing looked like, yes I have no life... It took me forever btw, then I had to actually gather the items and go for shopping, blah blah blah. Shopping was really fun though, I've never spent so much money in one go in my life EVER, well until last year 2010 :D

As a messy person, I shop then dump my stuff everywhere, oh ya.. it was just all over my room, I knew it was in my room, I just didn't know exactly where. So then I had to rearrange everything, which also took forever. I thought that would be the hardest part, then I can just you know stuff it into the luggage bag and be done with everything. Oh boy, was I wrong!

My mom told me this, I quote," Don't worry, sure can fit, in fact you will have extra space."
I CAN ONLY FIT HALF.... HALF!!!!!! of what i initially want to bring. And its still overweight, I'm sweaty, tired, its 5 am in the morning and I haven't slept the whole night and I have a long day ahead of me and I can't sleep because I'm too frustrated, and I really really feel like screaming or just killing something. Yeah, I'm going crazy because of the luggage bag and the stupid weighing machine -.- Its like I weigh it first, alright its below 20 kg.. OMGGGGGG AT LAST!!!1 i'm so happy right, then to double check, I weigh it again.. and its 20.5 kg.. WTHHHHHHHHHHHH??!!!!!!!! you gotta be kidding me... so I weigh it again.. and I get 21.3 kg. FML

And up to now, I still can't figure out what to throw out.. because I NEED EVERYTHING.. there is a purpose for it being in my list TT
I can't not bring food.. food there is expensive, I'm on a very tight budget... I need winter clothing as well, its friggin negative now, my mom even said I'm bringing too little.. Did you know that winter clothings are soooo heavy? Newsflash- They are....
Breathe... I'm just gonna attempt this again..
